Which OCTANE fuel provides the best performance in your 525 EFI's

Spoke to Mercury last week about that ,and synthetic oil w/the 525. 87 octane is recommended.Anthing over 89 can actually hurt performance. As far as syn oil, they cannot endorse it as this time.Said that they have experienced some oil pressure problems with it.

The higher the octane the slower it burns,,, you would only require higher octane on a higher compression motor where, pre-ignition or detonation is possible. It slows down the combustion process so the cylinder actually fires when the spark plug fires. Running 93 it in a motor that does not require it is a waste of money and will decrease performance.

I have the 525EFI, 87 works best. I think mobil 1 one V-twin or the mobil 1 15-50 weight is best. Seems to burn less oil and keeps oil pressure higher when hot.
