New cabin carpet, bind or not bind edges???
#1
The current carpet in my cabin has binded edges on parts, but not others.....
What are others doing when replacing the cabin carpet? Are you binding the edges or just butting in the cut carpet edges??
What are they doing in the new boats from factory?
If I were to go with binding, where do you go to get this done?
Thanks!

I would bind it and make it removable. That way if you evr get water in there you can tke it out to dry it instead of ending up with a nasty smelling moldy cabin. Most carpet places can bind it for you, when I had the carpet done at my house a few months back I had them turn some scraps into some door mats for me they did it right at their store.

Absolutely bind it. Install snaps in floor and have eisenglass tabs sewn in at snaps on carpet and use thin rubber mesh cabinet liner on the floor under the carpet to keep it from sliding around and eventually stretching.Take the carpet out regularly to air out and vacuum. It will stay looking great for years.

OK.... plan to bind it and make it removable with underlayment liner to keep it from moving and snaps or something..
Now.... When I go to cut the carpet and fit it, should I cut it so it's tight as possilbe or leave some room on the edges for the binding? I'm wondering if the binding will increase or decrease the size of my cut carpet? I want to get a tight a fitting as possible...
Thanks for all your good insights!!!
