Wind deflectors

Wind deflectors
What do you use if anything to re route wind?My new boat has a race fairing and Im thinking about making deflectors out of plexiglass.I dont want to attach permanantly though.Looked in hot boat ads and there is a product called wind away.Im not sure it will work for me,my windscreen is too thick and curved.I will be running 165 miles to the keys and @ 60mph with no additional wind Iwill have no hair left!

I bought the wind away defectors. What a piece of crap, expensive and engineered poorly. I bought new defectors from Finneys, but they mount permanently on a grab bar. I custom mounted mine on my windshield.

Here is what I built from 6061 T6 aluminum. Only two small holes hold each one in place They are 1.5" tall and 17" long. Didn't want a permanent installation otherwise I would have had to modify the fairly new cockpit cover.
My wife insisted on getting some sort of deflector for two years. I finally got enough balls to drill into the faring. She's happy and now wants a cup holder. Yeah Right! A cupholder in an Activator.
I told her there's one in here already. Her, hold this!

I have several sets of goggles and they work great at helping you to see but you still got that wind blast rippng in your ears.......with my deflectors your in a nice still pocket of air.......much quieter.......carry on a normal conversation with passenger at 45mph......you have to speak up at 55.......hear the stereo much better (cleaner)....... and you dont have to play with/find/store goggles.......a typical day of boating for me runs about 6hrs under power......the wind blast gets on my nerves after awhile..........IMHO deflectors are the only way to go......doug
