Default How much oil in a Whipple??

My kit came with a small bottle of oil. Is this the right amount? I did a search and did not find much info. One response was 3 quarts. Dustin posted right after it and made no comment about amount, just what type.

Thanks

Your compressor should have a dipstick, do not overfill it. Its just a few oz's of oil. Also, check the oil lever every day. The seals can wear out and oil consumption will cause your supercharger to fry. I had two SC units with bad seals go up in smoke. Using engine oil with internal spray bars works better, I'm changing oil at 20 hour intervals anyway.

It has a dipstick that is part of one of the large buttons with a slot on it. Unscrew it and fill it until the rough area is covered with oil. I would check level once a month. Also you should be using 20-50 synthetic oil.

I don't have a dip stick. There is an allen head fitting on top, but that's it. Could it be on the side? Also there is a small AN fitting on the side, what is it for? Thanks

Can you post up some pics. I have never seen a Whipple like what you are describing.

Duh, this unit needs an oil supply line, it is not self contained. Hence the AN fitting and large drain at the bottom. I didn' know Whipple made both.

OK, but where is the oil coming from and where does it drain back to, that is my question.

Mine is tapped from the oil filter housing with an AN fitting that you described, and a flexible braided line runs to the blower. The oil is drained back to the engine through a valve cover.
