rpm loss with Redline Shock Proof geal lube???
#1
I recall someone saying that they experienced about 100 rpm loss with Redline Heavy Shock Proof gear lube in a Bravo 1 drive versus the Mercury SD gear lube that Mercury recommends for their drives.
What has been other's experience in this regard with Redline Heavy Shock Proof gear lube in a Bravo 1. I am personally interested in experiences with the 496HO.

Rage, I am sure that I gained about 100rpm going from Redline shockproof to M-1 75/90.
I wasn't paying attention when I switched to Redline from Merc hp so I can't comment on that.
I ran Redline on Saturday changed to M-1 and ran it on sunday same air temps, so I am fairly sure, but not a scientific test by any means.

I remember hearing Amsoil and Merc HP gearlube are the same thing? It wouldn't surprise me if a heavier oil slowed the boat down a bit. Same is true with motor oils!
Mr Gadgets,
I have 3 drives for you as soon as my schedule lets me get up there!

Craig,
Any time your ready, just head this way!! Glad to help you out!!
It has been a long time since I saw the info on it.. Lost my brochures that were given to me. Do a search on Royal Purple and I am sure you can hit the company up for info. I use the Max Gear Oil 75/90. The guy that talked me into it sold it to companies with large motors.. Our compressors had engines that had 22" pistons in them, were two cycle, and ran on Natural Gas.. used the gas in the pipeline to compress it and send it down the pipe. Some of the engines were the size of a small house.
They have a complete line for Automotive use, Jegs sells it, and so do a lot of others. Motor, gear, transmission oil, etc..
Thats about all I remember. I have been using it since 95 or so?? Cant even remember..
