Cam recommendations for a turbocharged motor
#1
I am getting ready to order new cams for my motors and want to know what other people that have run turbos used for a camshaft. I am looking for a hydraulic flat tappet. The motor is a 454 7.5 comp, iron headed rect port pushing 10LBS of boost.

phughes,
The guy to get with is RMBuilder. He is the best at cam and valve train selection. He responded to your other post on valve springs. Not only is he knowledgeable but as honest as they come. Or, you could ask Warren or "The Colonel"

Not exactly sure which cam is in the motors now but the previous owner said it was out of a 502 502hp block. Right now the motors are carbed but I want to eventually change them over to fuel injection. The turbo system is a gale banks system. Log manifolds, Rajay turbos, 10 psi of boost, PFM intercooler. According to the factory manual the rpm range of the motors was 5200-5400. I would like to keep it in that range

I bought the boat 2 years ago. I am rebuilding the motors this winter so hopefully I can put them back in next year. I have tried to sell it but I dont think anyone in going to be will to give me what I need to sell it, so I'll just keep it and enjoy running it next year.

phughes,
Did you get in contact with RMBuilder yet? See if they you can get some flow information on the cylinder heads you are going to use, and have that info ready for RMBuilder. He really does do an excellant job on valve train selection. Maybe I'll see you out on the lake this summer!
