Default horsepower question ?

2 boats same year and model, one has 496ho's running (75-76 gps) the other has 525's (running 85gps) what would it take to get the boat with the 496 ho's to hit the 80 gps mark ? would a set of the new cmi exhaust ( claiming 50+ hp) do it and some labbed props ?

One 525 and one 496

Headers and prop work may get you a couple MPH

I always thought those 496's are 425 hp. The headers and some prop work would be a good start.
Also, check into having the bottom blueprinted. Don't matter how new the boats are. I've seen at the glass shop that does all our bottom blueprinting, some boats that are only a year old, have terrible botoms, and some even have a major hook in them. You'd be amazed at how much redoing your bottom might help you at WOT. Some thing to atleast check into.
