Default alluminum vs. cast iron heads

I have two 540 ci BB, I beam rods, 7.5 comp, cast iron heads, econel exhaust valves ss intake, crane roller rocker arms 1.7, crane hydraulic roller cams,

I have major damage on one of the pistons that will need to be honed out.

What are the benefits to going with alum heads and would you do the same to the other good engine??????

What other changes would you do....

If you have closed cooling or only run fresh water aluminum could be the way to go. Salt water and aluminum heads are a problem.

alluminum heads are better then cast iron
easy to repair and coating is available for salt water
use.

Your combo is Fine!

Here are some great heads.

AFR
Canrnfield
Edelbrock
Dart
Brodix

Any of these would do you fine

Thank you Cave.
As a new member its discouraging when someone like blaster says what he does. Although I went back through his posts and he pretty much only posts derogatory things. Sounds like he doesn't have a clue and says he's a phamaceuticals sales rep. so his owning of big power boats I'm sure is limited....

it does get discouraging to post on the general forum page. You might want to move this to the tech section, you will get more responses and less s#it, and they are generally friendlier over there. I read the general forum all the time, but never post cause of this behavior.
sorry it had to happen.
