Default Bravo X drives

What are these drives and transoms. Are they stronger then stock bravos? Are they a good upgrade to run behind 525 horse or should I use something else.I know they are not and xr drive, but I feel that I really don need the xr's for what I'm running.Any suggestions?

Thanks Anthony

I ran stock bravos in a 32 with 630+ hp with no problems.

Here's the low down on them:
http://www.go-fast.com/mercruiser_bravo_sterndrives.htm

I had 450 hrs on a pair of reg. Bravo's behind HP500's,
no problems.......I got 50 hour on XR's that have 200 hrs.
both have been apart, one had a "terminal failure".

You should be good with the X's.

525 best bet is XR I wouldnt run anything less these days !!!!!
but its your boat

ps the 525 comes std with the xr when ordered as a package

the Bravo X Series of drives features a larger U-joint, upgraded thrust bearings, thicker upper gear floor, and a heavy-duty driveshaft. The enhanced design means increased torque capacity for the boater. In addition, the Bravo One X comes standard with a dual water pickups gearcase, improving the flow of cooling water to the engine for enhanced reliability and performance. These drives are built with the structural integrity necessary to handle more torque. A steel bearing support provides additional rigidity, ensuring precise engagement of the near-net-forged spiral-bevel gears of the Bravo X Series.
