We are moving up there in the Spring from Charleston, SC. There are great places on both the Lexington and Chapin side of the lake. We are headed to Chapin mainly because of the schools.

Shull island is across the lake from my new house...hopefully we will be in it in about 4-6 weeks.

The lexington and Chapin sides are the best sides for school districts. I prefer the Chapin side because it is where I grew up and Lexington has gotten EXTREMELY crowded for my taste.

Either way you won't go wrong with investment property on Lake Murray. I have done very well with everything I have bought and just bought the 3rd place on Murray since 1996.

If I can help in anyway let me know. I have a hectic few weeks coming up but will be glad to help if I can.

Charleston is a great city but we are not huge fans of the saltwater and the schools are terrible. Lake Murray is a pretty good sized lake and there are a pretty good number of performance boats there and that number looks like it's growing. Everything in Charleston is a 21' center console fishing boat. 50MPH would be screaming to everyone down here.

I have lived on Lake Murray since 1988 and really like it. The only complaint I have is the property taxes in Lexington County are out of hand. Unlike Clearcut I prefer the Lexington side over the Chapin side. If you are only going to use e the house as a summer place you might want to consider farther away from Columbia for better prices.

The wife and I were down there last spring looking. Its an awsome lake..55,000 acres I believe. Once I sell the '89 Bullet we'll be in a better position to make a move.
Taxes on the Island are out of controll ! Not to mention what it cost to heat the house.
