Default Chevy Avalanche as Tow Vehicle

Anybody here use an Avalanche as a tow vehicle? How big of a boat can it haul ? I'd only be using it for fairly short tows, half hour or less.

I have a 05 with 8.1, 4X4, 3/4 ton. Tows my 25 outlaw like it's not even there. Tow capacity is 12K (i think).

if you tow any of those two boats with that your nuts... yes you might be able to get away with it, but if you ever get into an accident with it or hurt someone your done... think about the weight.. older gun or newer one, looking at 10,000 then another 2000 with fuel and gear, then trailer 2000-4000 steal or alum... your looking at 14,000 to 15,000..... you need a dually, period.....

With the 5.3 it's supposed to tow around 8800 pounds. I've pulled 10-11 in a relatively flat area and it would even stay in overdrive at 70 mph! really good truck!

They do make the avalance in a 1500 and a 2500 . Makes a difference. Still that big of a boat , dually is the ticket!

I just bought an 06 2500 but have not towed with it yet. It is rated @ 12,000 lb, but that is with 4:10 rears and sway bars. Fuel with 3:73s is 10 mpg average, not towing! Go diesel and long wheel base.

Buy a 2500 Avalanche with the full 3/4 ton suspension. I have one and tow 12K lbs of 37 Active Thunder, trailer, fuel, and gear with NO issues. Its a great truck. Mine is actually for sale though. I want something different.

DO NOT buy a 1500 Avalanche and try to tow anything more than 5000 lbs. It has a coil spring rear suspension, and you will tear something or someone up.

The Avalanche will out tow a Hummer H2 by double the weight (acording to GM towing specs).

Just food for thought.
