I second what Sydwayz says:
I have a 2500 w/ 4.10 axle 4x4 rated to pull 11,900 lbs. I would add airbags for maxing it out.
I have a flowmater muffler- dual exhaust and that helped w gas mileage/power a bit. For your current boat it's perfect.
If you step up to the 38TG than a dually may be the way to go.
BTW a 2500 Avalance has the similar suspension set up as a 2500 HD GMC with single rear wheels.
