Left hand and right hand are different in the lower unit. I couldn't tell you how to tell from the outside if there is no serial # visible.

The drives are physicaly the same....the lower gear inside is what make it a RH or LH drive. And usually the output shaft has a stamp on the end of it telling you which on eit is as well. Or just look at your other drive and see what prop is on it....should be an easy start that way! (if the prop is on!)

No, TRS drives are not all the same. They come in left hand rotation and right hand rotation. Take a look at your right prop to see which way it turns, i.e right hand or left hand. Can't remember how rotation is defined, looking at forward or aft. You will need to buy one that is opposite rotation. Unless both props spun the same way for some reason. I think there are several TRS's for sale in this board. Should be easy to find a TRS, there are lot of them.

FYI , depending on how much of the drive they stole... at the very top, there are three variations of steering arms at the top too...

square square (newest)
square spline (middle)
spline spline (oldest)

that part is $500 to switch around... so be carefull about that too.

Right hand is stamped RH on the end of the shaft and Left had may or may not be stamped. If it is it will say LH, or nothing at all. The LH lowers are likely the one they stole as they are harder to find. That sucks!!!!
