Default Merc500EFI/500Buldog

I would like to what is the difference between a 500 EFI and the 500 Bulldog, to what I know both as 470HP and what else?

The Bulldog is a 540 Ci the 500 efi is a 502.

The bulldog is blueprinted and balanced the 500 efi is not.

The bulldog is N/A and the 500 is EFI.

The bulldog is a great motor, so is the 500 EFI just go about making 470 HO different.

Do you know if in 2001 both of them were Closed Cooling ?

you might be thinking of the 525efi which is closed cooled.

Bulldog's also had manley rod's, lunati crank, 500efi's are gm rods and crank.

The hp500efi makes 500 HP. 470 Prop Shaft HP.

Since no one mentioned it, The bulldog was a tall deck block, the 500 EFI is a standard deck.

3 things I can think of.

1. The limitations of the Bravo One drive.

2. Wouldn't want to trump the 600SC

3. Mercury overbought HP465 cams from crane,
and needed to get rid of them
