How do you check the hrs on the computer on 525's. Will a handheld NAPA engine code reader pull that info? Do I need special software for my laptop? if that is required???

no an obdII reader wont pull them( napa code reader) you need either the merc handheld reader, the spx merc comp program and adapters, or the rinda comp program and adapters

Can the history be reset ? Like a set of 502 EFI's ...should it have total hours ? Also the # of hours at certain RPM ? Seems I heard when you scan em it resets everything .... m

I use the Rinda tester for Merc, Volvo and Crusader. I have a special adaptor for SmartCraft.

yes it starts at what ever the comp has stored on it prom(programable read only memory)... then theres eprom (erasable)ie history
