What are the best 6.5" Marine speakers?
#1
I know there have been many threads on this, but speakers are changing all the time. Which 6.5" have the best clarity at higher volumes? I'm trying to figure out the system for the new boat but The MTI has such limited space for speakers what ever I use will have to be efficient. I may be able to find space for 6 6.5" and a couple of small subs. I have tried the MB Quart stuff and it's OK. decent mids but very little mid bass. I heard some of the Audiobahn stuff this weekend at the Miami run and it wasn't very impressive.

Diamond Audio separates with aluminum drivers and tweeters. They handle a boat load of power and should stand up to the elements just fine. I'm running 6 of them myself. If you're going for loud and good sound, I wouldn't mess with marine speakers. Also, the Diamonds should last longer than you'll keep your boat anyway...

JL audio just introduced a new line too.
I bought a set of componets and sub, but have not installed it yet.
Might want to check them out.

JL is great, I don't like component though (extra holes and wiring) . MB Quart is what I have now and it's great but hard to find now, they are still tied up in a legal dispute with their US distributer ( Fosgate )

You know how critical placement is... especially with the high ambient noise levels.... and especially for high freqs.
The flexibility of placement can outweight the hassle.

Do a search on E-bay. I believe there are a few places that you can buy from pretty reasonable. apprx $200.00
