have always had fords and lov e the truck, worried about the 6.0, starting to act up, the new duramax seems very nice, better tranny and motor, ford has such a stupid low price on a new 06 with the owner loyalty, can get an equally equipped 1 ton dually from ford for 5k less, which one do I go with, haul up to 24k pounds, thanks wiggler

i hear ya...i've always had fords also...i just bought a new'06 duramax dually...at first i thought i made a huge mistake(owned it less than 24 hours & trans. stuck in 2nd gear,it was just a plug not connected all the way),i've had no problems since & love the truck... it's more quiet than the other diesels & has a lot more power...as far as the chassis i think the ford is built more like a truck...the chev. just seems lighter...not a bad thing,a better ride,depends how u work it... towing won't matter,all the brands are about the same tow rating...i just bought the power pup downloader & i highly recommend it...all this justs my 2 cents.

I've had two 6.0 fords, and have a friend with Duramax and they both seem to be good truck, I like the ford personally, but they both seem to be good choices.

I certainly don't want to upset other guys by making them think I am insulting their trucks....
But... we have both '06 gmc and ford.
The gmc has the 310hp LLY, not the HO lbz.
I could not believe the difference between the ford and GMC.
The GMC gets 2 mpgs better fuel econ while pulling 14k. the GMC also has a cruise of 10 mph faster. It flattens hills, while the ford runs over its tongue....

Me, I'd pay up to 10k more for a GM truck than the ford.

But, if you want to buy a Ford.... I'm certainly willing to sell you this one we have.....

Not that the Ford is BAD, it's just that the GM is MUCH better.

Remember, I form my opinion after having both trucks, both.

I think this is the last year for the ford 6.0 so that's a consideration and probably why Ford is discounting them.

I have 14k miles on my 06 Duramax and couldn't be happier with it. No issues whatsoever.

Ford has a new motor in the works. The 6.0 is pretty much old tech and is noisy compared to the new GM and Dodge offerings.

30k on a 2005 GM since last April with a couple trips pulling the rig to Florida, never a problem.
