I'm getting ready to pull boat out for spring and upgrade the rocker arms. Looking at the Jesel shaft rockers in the 1200-1300$ range vs the T/d's in same price range, anyone out there have a bad experience with one vs the other or a reason to go with one over the other? Post your opinions and if anyone can get a killer price on them pm with it too. 315cnc AFR heads,1.70 ratio,Smitty

My expierences tell me that either of these two manufacturers will be an excellent choice with price being about the same too. Heck, toss a coin here! you can't miss!

check out cranes new shaft mounted rockers smitty, they have a rising rate set up where they act like a 1.8 to 1 ratio at lower lift and 1.7 to one towards max lift, they dont use any needle bearings, to reduce the moment of enercia (sp) they havent been out long see if you can find someone that tried them read up on them see what you think.

Smitty,
I agree from the standpoint of materials and workmanship you can't go wrong with either vendor.
Below is the spring oiler option I mentioned yesterday that sold us on the T&D system. It is a .040" hole drilled in each rocker that directs a continuous spray of oil onto the valve spring as the rocker cycles through its arc with the spring in either compression or extension. This pulls a significant amount heat from the spring and extends its cycle life. The upgrade is $0.95 per rocker and requires no external plumbing.

We have run Jesel since they opened the doors and have had excellent results in all types of high end applications. My father used to race with Wayne and Dan Jesel and we are person friends with these guys, they are a first class deal and stand behind there product. I have run some T&D and it too is a quality piece. I would go Jesel but either one is a great choice!

Smitty, how's it going? Bring that bad boy up to the Northern Michigan Fun Run this year and run with us!
I'm certainly no authority on this, but I have heard that both the top of the line/high dollar Jesel and/or T&D shaft mount rocker arm systems are very good. However, I'm writing this with emphasis on the Jesel's least expensive Sportsman's Series shaft mount rocker arm system.
Last year Dave of WESCO installed the Jesel "Sportsman's Series" on my engines (I think that is what they're called). Before he installed them on my engines, I had expressed to Dave that I have heard rumors that they break and that I was concerned about it, and perhaps some actually have, but I didn't really know.
He said, that he uses the high dollar/top of the line Jesels on his Race engines, but the Sportsman's Series he has used for hi-perf marine engines with hydraulic roller cams and some with mild solid rollers. He said he has had several engines come into his shop for rebuilds that already had the top of the line T&D's on them and he said they are fine too, but regarding the Jesel Sportsman's, he has several engines out there that he has built with lots of hours on them and has not had any trouble/failures/breakage with them.
He went on to say that he believes the weakest link in the BBC is the valve train and that if they HAVE failed on someone elses engine(s), then it COULD perhaps depend on how the person set-up/assembled the engine(s)or how the valve train was installed---he's not sure and he's not out to argue with someone who has had them fail, but as for him and the engines he built, he has NOT had one failure to date---none with mine either.
Hope this has helped---you can call him and talk to him about it if you want. (616) 662-2250

i have the t&d's on a set of 357 afr's and mine do have the spring oilers i have had no problems with them and when i go back and do a valve adjustment they are always very close most time i do not have to touch them. it takes a little bit of time to set them up as i am sure it does both types but once you get them right you will be pleased . also i do not think i would try to put these on in the boat or with the intake on the motor the first time you put them on.
