I looked up threads on this and havn't found what i'm looking for yet.My ? is has anyone installed hydromotive cones where it blocks your low water pick up and if it did what was done if anything to the pick up.I have a xz lower with dual water pickup. Will this hurt or help.I was told it will increase water pressure but i'm already running water pressure relief vavles on my 525's.It runs at wot between 30-40lbs of pressure now.Been told will gain 4-7 mph.The boat 70-95+ runs like its on rails now so is it even worth installing?

I have done both of what you are talking about. I am doing one for Dave now that is a low water pickup. I did 2 for Lotti a few weeks ago. Dave is using the Imco, I used the Hydromotive on mine. I think it is worth the effort above 85. What you will start seeing is small burns on the prop near the hub where the water is pulling away from the prop. It basically is cavatating in the small circumference.
Call me after lunch & I can talk you through it.

when i first did my motor the boat ran 91 with out a nose cone i put on a wpm nose cone and went 96 at a lower rpm so yes they will help you above 85.also it is very importent thet they are stright on the drive if you have never put one on you might get some one to help you that has done they and had them work for them . also they can be stright side to side and up and down good luck

A few years ago I had a nose cone installed by Bob's Machine. It was for a Bravo and I believe it was $275-295 installed including the parts and repainting the lower. I think they even included a warranty on the paint.
