Just curious, has anyone ever said this or heard it said? If so, I'd like to know the reasoning.

Accidents happen... yep. I am not stating anything about driving ability or what causes accidents.

There are way to many bad stories about accidents, and the chances of saving life and property are so much higher when wearing one.

Who do you think is buying new boats after they continue on after an incident and end up destroyed? Each and every one of us is. Nickel by C-note each year on our insurance premiums.

I've heard it regarding seatbelts in cars. People who survived after being thrown out of a car so badly mangled that it looks very unlikely they would have made it if they had stayed buckled up behind the wheel.

But as far as lanyards are concerned, never and I really can't imagine what 1 in a zillion freak circumstance would make anyone say something like that...

My Formula didn't have one installed when it was built in '88. I recently purchased one from Trick Marine. I'll install it as soon as I can.
I've read and heard too many stories about runaway boats. A simple kill switch could save lives and property. But like seatbelts, some just choose to ignore it.

I'll agree that I have heard it about seatbelts, but that's not the topic, and its a different physics dynamic all together. I was a Volunteer Firefighter fo 10 years, and cut a lot people out of cars, both dead, alive, and some states inbetween. However, I never cut a dead person out of a seatbelt.

A Friend From Loto Hit A Submerged Dock In The Middle Of The Lake That Had Broken Away From The Shore. It Was Early In The Spring And Almost No One Out. He Was Thrown From The Boat With No Kill Switch Attached. He Watched His New 45 Ft Donzi Continue Around The Corner And Back Into A Cove At A High Rate Of Speed With No One Aboard. Not Only Will He Tell You That He Was Lucky To Not Drown With Broken Bones From Being Thrown, But The Boat Crashed Into The Shoreline At The Only Undeveloped Lot In The Cove. The Motors Were Still Running When Someone From The Shore Jumped Into The Boat To Shut It Down. He Told Me He Goes Nowhere At Any Rate Of Speed Without Being Strapped In. Scary Azz Story. Also Shows That You Can Be Travelling Down The Middle Of The Lake Following All The Safety Rules And Have A Freak Accident.
