tunnel boat insurance

looking at buying a boat with a tunnel hull, like a skater, spectre, or liberator. i was talking to a friend and they said it was just about impossible to get insurance on them. looking at a 24 to 28 with twin 300 mercs. somebody help. anybody know an insurance co. that will insure them?????????

Markel is the only Co. insuring cats. Their are those who claim that they got insurance from Allstate, Progressive, ect. You may be able to slip it through on the same co as your auto. But if they ever investigate, ask for pictures, or you file a claim, you will find that your policy will wont be as good as the paper it is written on. Try Performance Marine Insurance, in Ft Lauderdale Fla.

There are others that will write a legitimate policy on smaller Cats.

When you go from a 24' to a 28' Skater...Expect those 4 ft to cost you at a minimum of $4000/year in insurance.
