I'm going through my engine and wondered if a cam change/bigger valves would make a cost effective improvement? I'm going to bore it .030 with new pistons and wondered if it was worth upgrading these areas and if I would see any seat of the pants gains. I'm going to have to hold off on the 540 combo for now. Also need biggest size/ type/brand valves for the stock '97 502 mag heads. Thanks!

If you do anything to the heads, concentrate heavily on the exhaust side as it barely flows over 200 cfm and is your biggest bottle neck on a blower motor. As far as a cam, just call rm builder (aka as bob madeira) at 5856548583 and pay him to get a custom ground hydroller,it won't cost much more, if anything, than if you orderd one from anywhere else, and you won't be on here when motors done with a new set of problems from cam being off,Smitty
