Default XR sportmaster vs XR sportmaster shorty

I am new to this, so thanks in advance. On a 26 or 28ft single engine boat why opt for an XR sportmaster or a sportmaster shorty drive over a regular XR? What can you do different or expect from one or the other? I dont pull tubers or skiers.

Thanks

Scott

The Sportmaster will not do you much good under 85 MPH. We ran both on a 29 Warlock race boat. They made us use the Sportmaster to slow us down. More drag in the water was the theory. They are supposed to have better hydrodynamic performance over 80+ MPH and with boats that have a higher X dimension.

The longer skeg on the sportmaster gives you better handling in the rough.

I also heard the longer skeg slows ya down , some are cutting them down.

I wonder what they do to the # 6 shegs to make them faster ,I heard it makes a lot of differance ..... if it would work on a bravo skeg?
