Post truck question???

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=600721500

What model truck is this (stepside)??? I like the stepside versions but do they come with diesels or v8s??? How much can they tow? Do they come with the extended cab too (not crew)?

Its a 1500 1/2 ton model. Yes they do come in extended cab with the sportside (stepside) box.

puder,

Yes you can convert to a Stepside bed. Any 88-middle 99 Chevy Short Bed truck can have a SS bed bolted right to it.

You won't find any from the factory w/ a diesel engine. The Stepside bed (designated Sport Side from GM) only comes on the half ton truck. GM did not put any diesel motors in half ton rigs in the CK body style.

Tow rating would be the same as any half ton rig. The bed will not affect tow rating any.

Puder, I know someone that has a 95 sportside that would rather have a regular short bed. The one your looking at isn't marroon is it??

i wasn't specifically looking at any trucks just yet but i have always liked teh step side version. if i got a truck i would most likely get one of those. Or if i could find a normal cab not crew or extended cab dually cheap i would get one of those. It woudl be great excuse to get a new bigger boat.

"well i have the towing power might as well try her out"

I have to disagree with buck 183 on that half tons were availible with a 6.5 diesel, in a short fleetside but not a step side and the bed is a direct bolt on conversion, and the stepsides are readily availible at a local wrecking yard

i take it it is a non turbo charged 6.5 diesel. If so can a turbo be out on it??? if i coudl find a wrecked turbo in the same yard as the new stepside bed???

any ideas on towing numbers?

What woudl be needed to tow a 38' scarab? would a dually be the only option?

All 6.5 had turbos but had a lot of injector
pump problems. Other than that they gave little problems.
