A friend towed his Baja 38 Special from Florida to Chicago with a 6.5 turbo deisel in a 2500 Suburban. I rode with him towing it down for the air show and it was a nightmare. The thing couldnt get out of its own way.

Just remember Puder - on a fleetside you're gonna have "less" box. If you are going to be hauling stuff, keep that in mind.

I would recomend either a h.d. g.m. with the 8.1 L. or duramax or a ford super duty with a power stroke

puder,

W/ a "Fleetside" you will actually have MORE box then a Step Side. A "Fleetside" bed is another term for a standard width bed. W/ a Step Side you will have less.

Liquid Asset may be right on the half ton w/ a diesel. I knew GM did it in the eighties, but couldn't recall them doing it in the CK body style. It was pretty much a flop when they did do it. The 6.5 is one thing that hasn't helped GM in the heavy truck market.
