Okay, got the survey done. Bad news. It's in pretty bad shape. The keel is damaged from what the owner claims as "dragging it on bad roller" on the trailer. Someone just brushed gel-coat all over it. One of the steps of the hull has a major spiderweb that was gel coated over with a brush. Every bulkhead has stress cracks. The engine scoop is ready to come off as it's cracked all around it. Then engine had a lifter tap and only 18psi of oil pressure. Boat only ran 72mph on GPS. Too bad it took a $530 survey instead of the owner just saying there were some problems or sending detailed photos. Buyer beware!
Back to the drawing board! I'm going to wait until spring when I'm back from deployment and can check out boats in person. I'm also going to look into the 28 Panteras, 292 formulas, and 28ZX Donzis. I'm thinking maybe a little more "camping" room in the cockpit with more ventilation would be better for overnighting.
