Default outdrive anode

What does everyone have? A flat one or one with a bit of a skeg like mine (see pic)?

Mine have been the flat ones.
I was under the impression the 'skeg type' anodes are for the non power steering boats to help offset any torque??

The anodes are sacrifical. They will rot out before the actual metal in your outdrive. There are two types one set for salt water and one set for fresh water. The one in the picture is not the only one on your drive. You have a flat plate on the bottom of the transom and two bolts under the drive. Check them monthly if you keep your boat in the water. Easy replacement. Also, I believe the earlier post is correct, the skeg version shown is now only placed on drives without power steering.

My boat has powersteering, but not external hydraulic. should I get one without the skeg? I assume it would be a little more efficient without the skeg.

Flat one is still recommended.
