I have owned probably 10 of those cheap outdrive lube pumps and I am sick and tired of dealing with cheap crap!
What are you guys using to refill your outdrive? Any ideas are greatly appreciated, Thanks, KN

I just used a sweet set up. It looked like a retro fitted freon(sp) tank. It had a screw in top with a dip stick made to the cap. An air fitting was also made on to it to pressureize the tank. The out put line was fitted with a standard cut off valve to stop the flow when desired. Basicly, filled it up with about 3+ qts pumped in 60lbs with my compressor, screwed the fitting in to the bottom plug behind the prop, vented the upper plug and resivior(sp) and opened the valve. Shazam... filled to the top without air pocket in 1minute flat.

Dick Tryce aka Mr. Gadgets will sell you a good, inexpensive set up that works well and comletely neat. It is designed to work with 5 gallon buckets. Fills fast.

I buy the fluid in 5 gallon buckets (obviously only every couple of years). I attached the "fill" hose/fitting from the cheap unit onto a hose that is connected to a $7 hand pump that moves 8-10 times the amount of fluid the little cheapy units move. The $7 pump fits right onto the screw cap of the 5 gallon bucket. 12-15 pumps and a regular bravo is full.

I use a 1 gallon stainless steel garden sprayer from Home depot. I took the spray end off (leaviing the sqeeze handle to control flow) and added a short piece of hose with the threaded fill fitting attached. Pump it up and fill away!

I use one of those hand drill pumps---takes about 1-2 minutes or so and costs about $8 at a hardware store. It really cuts down the time compared to any kind of physical hand pumping which takes about 15+ minutes per drive and can be very aggravating.

I like Tomcie's idea with air valve pressurized tank too---anything that doesn't require physical hand pumping.
