I use to work for Steve, was the crew chief when it was raced and did all the engine R & Rs and all other associated parts the rest of the time.
We use to go out in the ocean with me driving and Steve throttling, man, what a blast. One day it started raining like hell and all I had were my shades and clothes. You know what rain feels like hitting you up in the 70, 80, and 90 MPH.? I'm ducking down behind the dash with an occasional look forward and he's up there working the throttles like a man possessed and laughing his ass off!
Now, to answer your question, BR was originally built as prototype, thus the wood and glass build. It was never duplicated, as in no sister or brotherships. that was one beautifully built boat.
I haven't been down there in about 18 or 20 years so I have no idea if it's even still alive.

Is this the boat you are talking about? I think this old classic looks better than all the new ones I have seen.
