XR drive

You'll need a larger gimbal bearing and the trim limit spacers. The U joint for the XR is larger and without the limits, I think you can ruin the U joint.
Here's the part numbers and pricing from Mercruiserparts.com
26-88416 SEAL-OIL $18.53
30-862540A3 BEARING ASSEMBLY $73.07
11 61075 RING-TOLERANCE $7.81
15768A3 SPACER KIT $5.37

Call Marc at Bam Marine. Merc now makes a kit that has everything you need for around 85 bucks.

It depends on the input shaft ujoints. The new gimble bearing is offset by .050" and the trim limit spacers keep the drive from tilting too far when the old style large ujoints are in the shaft. I have not tried it with the new shafts, but the joints are smaller... So I would not go without the spacers until someone measures the clearance.
Hope this helps..
