I was noticing on one of my engines that the breather on top of the vavle cover was soaked with oil and the other was dry.Any ideas what this means if anything or is or will there be a problem?
Since engines are setting on the concrete should i do anything to them other than refresh them.1 has 300 hrs and the other 175 but 100 of those hrs are with the whipples on them and everyone knows i don't ever run them hard.

Your readings will be bad with a cold motor. Can you warm it up first and then check for leakdown?

A warm engine is not required for a leakdown test. I do agree you should do a leakdown test to determine wear. I do not even bother with compression tests anymore.

It has to be the rings. What you are seeing is crankcase pressure relief. It goes to the least resistance. GM uses low tension rings that have a gap of about .035 of the top ring. They are not file fit rings and will allow the engine to burn oil. Not sure the type of ring they use, but they break when trying to get them off the piston during rebulds. I did mine with 280 hours and they broke all up. They are metric rings, Speed Po makes a file fit, standard tension replacement ring set for the 502. Follow the gap guidline for supercharged engines. Should be about .022-.024 on the top ring. With a blower, you are going to get blow by reguardless. Make sure you vent the engine well. You still may get some dirty filters but not as bad. Just clean them more often.
Do I need to bring up the comment from the poker run?

Thanks for the info everyone.I can't warm the engine since i have no blowers on it sent them off for some repairs. We did a leak down test late summer and everything was good. The engine that is puking is the one with 300 hrs.A freind installed on he's blower motor the same puke tank as nocig.I might have too do that.I did run the last run in the boat for the season hard at a radar run with 5 passes at WOFT.Might have togo to the Linster's shop and drop of a few engines and awhole lot of beer this winter.
I might do a leak down just for chits and giggles. The engine that has less hrs is the one that let go with busted rings last summer and merc gave me a new engine.I had about 3 qts. of blow by in the bilge.
