Default plumbing fuel system

Which is the proper place to feed the fuel to the pump first or the filter first. Why I ask , my fuel feed goes to the filter first then to the pump and from the pump to the carb. but I see some of the motors here on oso are to the pump first.

Better after the pump to catch any little pieces that come off the pump diaphragm and keep them from the carb. Same holds true if it's injected-small metal particles from pump wear will booger up the injectors.

when i first put the motor together i had the ff/water sep after the pump. i installed a inline filter after the pump
filter
and moved the ff/h2o sep. to before the pump because i wasn't confortable with the can being pressurized with 15 psi(leak would be BAD).

Run A Filter In Front Of The Pump A Fuel Water Seperator Is Best. After The Pump Run A Fine Micro Filter (10) To The Engine Feed.this Keeps Water Out Of The Fuel Pump And Fines Out Of The Engine.
