leath,
I have been using the 241S melling. It puts the pickup a little closer to the rear of the pan than the original one, but seems to work fine. Its funny you asked this question as I was on the phone today asking Melling about the Mercruiser pickup screen. The guy I talked to said he does not think they make it, but I have a 502 Mercruiser screen sitting in front of me and it has the Melling logo on it ! I sent him some pics to see what they can come up with. I am pretty sure the only way Mercruiser sells it is complete with the pump.

Guys, am I on the right track? Closer pic up to the rear of the engine with a strap brazed away from critical components..Ya got me thinking(and yes that is dangerous )-thanks

Hi Rob,nice talking with you. As promised, see pics of my old pick up-longer than my new short one. I recommend the new set-up closer to rear as in my new pic above. Please notice that I gound off the brazing and look closely if you still want it as I think you said you just needed the screen only.If you still want mine you can have it no charge, just pay for shipping. I have a Pakmail down the street that you can call give them w/your cc number i will drop off the part and your good to go.
pm me and i will give you the phone number of the PAKMAIL that can overnight to you.
