Default duo prop?

Got a crazy question. Did any one every try a dual prop drive with just one prop. instead of both? Like the Volvo duo prop or the bravo three. How about mixing and matching props within the same series but maybe different sizes.

Let me know how you get on. You may well be the first. One of two things will happen here. You will be proven a complete potty nutcase, or you may well be proven be a geneaus of the highest order and redefine boating and out drives. Good luck. Jas

I've never run my Bravo III's with a single prop, but I have run them with different pitch front and rear props. At one point in time on a prior boat I was running a 28" forward prop and a 26" aft prop. I did this because my stock 26" propset was turning too many RPM but a set of 28" props were turning too few RPM. The combo of the 28" and 26" was just right RPM-wise. I didn't run this combination long-term as I was just playing around. I finally ended up sending a matched propset off to be worked by Bronson Hill to get exactly what I wanted.

Very Interesting. FYI, Volvo manuals warn about mixing props (must use matched sets) and also warns about using only one prop. They don't say what can/will happen, jsut the warning. I have twin duo props on my 30' boat and never had the balls to try experimenting. Curious to know if you ty it and what the results are. Good luck.

Theres a boat dealer here in NJ that has converted a number of Blackhawks to run single props with very good success. Let us know the results of your experiment.
