Where are you guys insuring your performance boats? I have a 2007 35 Executioner w/496 HO's and I pay $1950/yr. I am trading it in on a 2007 42 Executioner w/525efi's and I got quoted $4100/yr!! I think that is kind of high considering what I pay for the 35.
I went through Worldwide Marine Underwriters for all of my boats in the past and they were always real reasonable. This one seems high!!

if you are in Florida it is a high risk area and will be big money to cover, I have my Fountain covered with American Reliable, they are now getting into high performance boats[ they have been covering yachts in the past] i was using Markel and had good luck with them, if you want a quote call
