I am in the market for an intercooler sea strainer and am considering the following:

Trick

Stainless Marine

I definately need to filter sand out and all of th above claim to be able to attain this function. I like tha fact that a couple of them have a pressure relief built into them.

What intercooler sea strainers are you running and why did you choose it?

I would suggest calling Teague. They have 5" stainless strainers for like 295.00 each. Then you cut a 3-M sanding pad to fit and slide it in. This is what I run on my rig. Give me a call if you have any questions.

The sanding pad passes enough water and still will filter the sand?

The 3-M sanding pad is what is in the KPM ones that Trick sells. I bought some from him, but ended up not using them and sent them back.

What are you using as your water source /supply ??

A very large pick up. Seperate from the pump/engine cooling.

I have run on the Chain for many years. I have just run an offshore style pickup and run it thru the Teague strainer. Never had an issue with silt or sand. Dustin stated to me that the passages are so large in his cupronickel coolers that sand will pass right thru. My strainers have stopped weeds, small sticks and other chain crap. I would say just run them the way they come. Be sure to put a shut-off on the supply line in case you ever need to do a repair or clean it out on the water.

Can't wait to see that thing fly on the chain. You will certainly give Brad a run. I bet you might be able to outrun him on some of the lakes !!!

Go to any automotive paint store, and get there 3M red scotch brite scuff pad. Thats what it is.
