Default How Do I Tell If A Boat Was Stored Outside?

While looking at used boats, I have a lot of people saying they have been stored "indoors and outdoors". That could mean just about anything. What are some good telltale signs it has spent much of its life outdoors, and has more weather damage than the new wax job suggests?

Thanks,

Michael

look for eveidence of dust dirt that has been washed by either hose or rain in seams/cracks joints. look carefully at upholstery piping and under the lounge/bench seat. good luck - jeff

When you get the pictures, look for clouds and trees in the background.

Problem is you don't know how long it was under the cover, and how long it was exposed. If cars are any indication, people get very clever with covering up damage due to exposure, such as using polishing compounds and polishes, and dressings on interior items. A few months later, you realize the finish is shot.
