Default How do you get the water inlet hose off a Bravo Bellhousing?

I am in trying to take the bell housing off so I can replace my worn out gimbal ring
How do you get the greaded internal wedges that clamp the hose in place.
Before I just pry them out and replace them?

The easiest way is to tap a screwdriver in between the hose and the wedge and just break the wedge out. You need to put a new one in anyway.

To install the new insert (part no.41674) you will need a special tool.

Great another special tool

I suppose using a hose clamp would of been to easy.

On earlier models they did use a hose clamp, it was a peckerhead to get too. Atleast it's one of the cheaper specialty tools.

I made the tool out of a piece of pipe. Just find a piece of pipe that is the right size and cut sections out of it so that you have the four prongs sticking forward to grab the insert. I just cut out the old insert to remove it.

To remove the water inlet hose from a Bravo Bellhousing, you'll need to detach the graded internal wedges that secure the hose in place. Instead of prying them out, which could damage the components, try gently sliding them off to replace them. This allows you to access the bell housing for gimbal ring replacement without causing unnecessary harm.

I’m sure you’re right and that’s good info but this is a very old thread (17 years) so hopefully he’s got the hose off by now.

On a side note, welcome to OSO, a great place for powerboat enthusiasts.
