I did it for a number of years. Now they require alot of extra info. I think all your reciepts have to have YOUR name on them as well as the other listed requirements. I had switched my boat to Delaware registration the last year I tried turning them in. They gave me some hassle about the naems on the reciepts, who owned the boat, etc. I figured getting the tax man chasing after me for $200 in fuel rebates wasn't worth the money.
Just make sure you know what they need on the reciepts and you'll be OK, most of the marina/gas station leave stuff off that will make the reciept worthless.

Unfortunatly i dont think so......reading through it, it talks about Tugs and mostly Farm equipment...so i dont think it apples to recreational boaters....it would be nice though.

Yes absolutely is for recreational boats. The refund is for the highway tax levied per gallon. They have yet to figure out how to separate it form the marina pump prices. We all do it religiously here in Hampton Roads. The VA marina's should be giving you a receipt with their name and gallons on it for just this purpose. If not, ask for it they'll know why.

For gas station receipts of large gallons, most have their address. Pay by credit card/debit card inside so your mname appears on the recipt. Write "Boat Gas" at the top and send it in. I've even gotten more than I estimated in the past. Receipts are good for 1 year from date of purchase.

So in essence, when purchasing fuel form a VA marina, subtract the 17cents per gallon off the posted price and it's actually not bad.

Just a thought...don't the marina fuels all ready have the road tax removed from the price? Are the marinas still including this price and "gouging" boaters?
