Default What would cause this?

My neighbour has a small Donzi, 25 or 28.
single 454 injected

When he brings it up to about 1200 rpm the motor just quits.
Makes an air suction sound and just quits.

If you start bringing up the rpm and right at the 1200 rpm mark spray some starter/either then it goes past the 1200 and runs fine.

Does this in gear and in nutral.

What would cause this?

[QUOTE=Midnight__Express;2142086] spray some starter/either /QUOTE]

Cant help you with what sounds like a fuel injection problem but ..... the only place for the starting spray is in the trash can .... that stuff is the best way to kill an engine. If you insist on using something, use Gumout or 2+2 carb cleaner. It will accomplish the same thing without hurting anything.

Sounds like you sucking air in from somewhere. Check around the intake and plentum by useing the spray. You could even use WD40.

First thing you need to do is check the fuel pressure. Are you sure it is a 454? If the boat is on year old it would have a 350 Mag or maybe a 496, but not a 454.

Positive on the 454, not positive on the year, but it's fairly new.

Fuel presure is good. It's something else?
