Default I'm Buying a 27 Fountain Fever....

It is a 1992 FOuntain Fever REALLY CLEAN. Normal wear and tear on the interior, New crate mercruiser motor etc.. I have always been hooked to the fountains and have decided to buy one. Is there ANYTHING I should know about the boats as far as maintenance, things to look for, etc...

I am a newbie here and I would appreciate the information.

Thanks man,
I am pumped. I have had run abouts and ski boats before but I cant really get my friends out anymore. I guess as we get older the lazier we get haha. My fiance is actually the one who thought about this. Since it is usually just her and I.

Be safe. I have a 94 stepped 27 with the light layup. Blower motor. Im seeing # in the 90's with a 28 pitch. I really need a 30.

Have fun, but learn how to drive first, the walk is no joke in a 27, and remember first instinct is to get off the gas, it just make it worse.

IMO the 27 is not a very good rough water boat. Its really a 25ft boat when you factor in the beak and the swim platform. The blower motor will last about 1/2 as long as a nonblower motor - so yes maintenance will be significantly more. If the drives are bravo one they will not last either - but really depends on how you drive it. The 29 fountain will run faster than the 27 with same power.

Anything "rough" will look intimidating in a boat less than 35'. The 27 is a great lake and bay boat. You will have fun. It will run 50-55 through most water with out any problems. The only thing I dont like about em is the ride can be compromised with more than 3-4 people and rough water. Great for you and the wife......yes a 29 will ride better, but whats rough for a 27 will be rough for a 29 too. The extra leg room in the 29 is nice.

Looks good.
I had a '94 27' with a 250 blower and would run 83mph with a 27" hydro prop at 5psi of boost. I would keep it at 5psi. Mine was turn key.
