I'm basically changing my oil every 15 hrs. because it gets so black. I'm running a procharger on a 509 and it runs great. Maybe a little on the rich side but i'm okay with that. The oil really doesn't smell like gas.
I currently run M-1 20w50 syn. and M-1 filter. I guess I have two questions. What filter flows better and since I change it so often could I go to a cheaper Dino based oil?
I've search all the threads and never really came away with a definitive answer.

My boat holds about 16-17 qts of oil and I change it every 10-15 hours too,I been using 12 qts of 20 w50 kendal gt and topping off with 20w50 m-1,bearings looked like new when I tore it down this year to freshen it. This is a hyd roller application like yours,if I had a flat tappet cam I would find something with alot of zddp but this mix is working great for me,Smitty

Kendall gt1 used to have all kinds of zddp and other great properties when it was still "green" looking and made to its original specs and was a favorite of many racers. It has since been watered down like most others (from what I read) and reformulated. I still use it but I like to add the m-1 vtwin 20/50 to help fortify it as far as the zddp and stuff,at least thats my reasoning,it has never caused a problem,I might be wasting money but I tend to stick with what works for me. You could also just add gm EOS to any decent oil too and probably be ok,Smitty
