Default Any problems with changing tstat housing styles?

I want to change from Merc to the Sierra stainless. I've got Mk IV 454MAGs but the sierra replaces what merc uses on the MPI engines. I figure as long as I run the manifold hoses to the new housing, plug the risers (stock wet joint exhaust), I should be ok? Anybody else using the sierra piece?
