The motor has a 160 t-stat in it. So I can see temps anywhere from 165 to 170.

155 - 161 depending on throttle position

T-Stat is 160. Pull the throttles and come off plane, it should spike up to about 172 for short while (sudden decrease in water flow) then cool back down to 160-162.

IMO if you're running higher than that, you either have some blockage of your water intake line such as the oil cooler, or most likely it's a deteriorating impeller or weak pump.

I'm running b/n 170-185. No alarms. Just had both water pumps and thermostats changed b/c of alarms at the end of last season. Should I be concerned? TIA

160-180 is the acceptable range.

I called my mechanics today and they said 175 is normal. They stated that they did replace the water pumps and put in 160 tstats. I guess that I'm just paranoid. At what temp do the alarms go off and/or the engine overheat?
