Default Real Cost for 6.2 Merc

I see them listed for around 12K, but have to believe that is more the price for a 496 or 496HO, so what could you buy a new 6.2 320 HP engine for? Thanks, DK

I've seen them from several different Merc wholesalers on E-Bay as low as $7200 -turnkey.

Why is the Merc 6.2 only 320 HP when the GM 6.2 is 403 HP?

6.2 certified merc - I think that means they were remanufactured, but they still come with the same warranty

$7,250

While were are talking about the 6.2 - Whats the difference between the 383 and the 6.2 besides the obvious (size). They appear to be the same price - so why wouldn't you want the 383 instead of the 6.2? Isn't it a bigger small block engine? I see a lot of newer high performance boats with 6.2's but none with 383's any reason?

Here is the info on the 383 - it is a factory re-manuf. motor. Powerboat did a test on a boat with one of these in it in the last year or so, they didn't address the fact it was a 383 vs. the 6.2L / 377 from what I remember though.

I looked @ the 383s also. Was told they are sold as quicksilver , which means reman. I feel they were mistake blocks punched out so they could use them. Quicksilver warranty is also only 2 years with no extension plan. I didn't do them!
