Default Motor Guru's..Need help with 496 low oil pressure!!

I have 2004 496 HO's. Cold start oil pressure is 40-50 lbs...After warming up it will stay at about 20...When you run it after plain it starts dropping till the warning buzzer goes off...I put a mechanical gauge on it and it is dropping oil pressure. Changed oil (straight 40) No change.. Has anyone ever heard of 496's doing this?

What is your oil temp reading? I know on a 525 at least when my pressure goes down and the temps go up, the filter has collapsed and it's bypassing the oil cooler. Try changing the filter first would be my guess (cheap and easy)

The oil levels are right on. Has anyone ever heard of spinning a bearing and not making a knocking noise. One slides around under the other.? Just wild ideas before pulling out..!

Did it happen all of a sudden, like one day it was fine ,or was it a progressive drop?

Well it seems you will end up pulling the motor and then the oil pan. As you know its any bodies guess. I had an engine guy tell me he found the pull off seal from a oil container in the oil pump screen. Maybe something freaky like that was happened. A cracked pickup or clogged screen. Just my two cents. Good luck.
