Default TRS Drives?????????

What is the story with them? Would you be hesitant to buy a boat with them?
Thanks,

Very good drive and much tougher than a Bravo. There are also new bolt on replacement drives by Konrad available should you decide to upgrade. Parts are a little hard to get but Cobra, TNT, BAM and others have parts in stock.

They rigged the X dimension is allot more conservatively on boats of TRS age so they will run a bit slower. They are heavier also. However, the TRS is a great drive and depending on the boat I would not be afraid of purchasing a TRS boat.

There are some disadvantages with the TRS outdrives. They are larger and heavier than the Bravo series. They require a hydraulic transmission that steals horsepower from the propeller. To make room for the transmission they require moving the engine, the heaviest thing in the boat, forward, cutting down on the room in the engine compartment in front of the engine.

Stock power and light boat, no worries. Big power, heavy boat, lots of worries! Konrad is the answer though

I love the smooth shifting on the one in our 1982 22 Donzi. It had a blown transmission when I bought it. I had the transmission rebuilt, an extra clutch plate installed, and the input shaft clearanced. Supposed to be good to 600 hp.
