I am building a 30 ft scarab with 2 454 motors trying to find out if i need a reverse rotation drive. If i do can i have a drive that is standard rotation reversed, also if i put on team g intakes with holley carbs will this screw up the way a otherwise stock motor runs or should i run stock intakes and carbs

If your going to run bravo's, you set one up to spin in reverse, and the same for volvo's, but anything else is a special drive.
as far as intake and carbs, what are you after, there are a lot of aftermarket parts out there that are better than the stock 454 setup, especially if they are the 7.4L 330hp merc's with (updraft) intakes.

? you mean the drive has to be a reverse from the factory

yes, they make a counterrotating alpha drive, all you need is the lower though, but they ran drives turning the same direction for years, it does affect the performance to some degree, but in your application it should be fine, but you need to careful with the amount of hp you put to the drives, they don't like much over 300hp, and throttle up easy.

If you want l/h rotation with an alpha,
you need a counter rotation lower unit.

with your application it will be fine.

With both Alphas turning right-hand props boat might tend to heel to the left from torque. Boat will dock better with counter-rotators. An investment in a left-hand Alpha lower could make it a much better boat.

Also any one ever hear of a alpha drive being built to bravo specs if so what does that mean and how can i tell what gears or in a drive. i think i will need to match gear ratio i believe if im wrong please let me know thank you all i realy appreciate the help

Install counter-rotating lower on port side. Turn props out for best results.

Yes, both drive ratios must be the same. Probably 1.50:1 will give you good prop selection.
