I have used the twin ram setup on a single for several hundred hours. Just a little tough to steer at idle when cold. No way to really say on the gimbal wear but it seems it should help.

I run one on my 22' Challenger and it seems to help with chine walking. It's main insurance comes from that it will hold the drive straight if the gimball ring would break and keep the boat from getting out of control. I think this is especially important since I am overpowering the Alpha drive and running in the low to mid 70's.

I doubt they would do much on your set up Tom.

Doesn't the boat have hydraulic steering and a tie bar?
