I am up in the air of what to do about my boat, I have a 2001 Donzi 26 ZX that I have been trying to sell, It has not sold and I think I might upgrade power or add a supercharger. The questions I have are can you supercharge a 2001 496 Mag HO with no running problems, or is it better to pull the motor and start over, with a Raylar motor or a Mer 525, I know once I make this decision to upgrade I am stuck keeping the boat, because I will never get the money back out of it. If anyone has any experence with this please share your thoughts. I have already added CMI exhaust and gained nothing, the Donzi 26ZX in a very hard boat to make fast and I dont want to dump a bunch of money for nothing.

If you want to sell it, then leave it alone and use it.
You would be better off to lower your price 5k then put another 5k into it only to have to lower the price later when you sell. Also, you could probably pull the CMI's and sell them and put stock exhaust back on.

Hey, your coolant tank is low!
I would not supercharge the existing motor. It will just be a matter of time before you smoke a piston. If you want to dump money in it, go Raylar with your existing motor or look for a take out 525. If you want to sell it, Griff has some solid advice.

I would either lower the $ again like mentioned to sell it, OR plan on spending way more than 5K to do what you want. At that point you should plan on keeping the boat.
That said, if youlike the boat & were just looking to move on to get something newer, you may just want to go ahead & redo what you have. That is if you are happy overall with it. I know I love ours, I would only pop out to get something bigger at this point..
If you want to redo the engine, boat or what ever it may need done feel free to call me..

I must say, that is rather disheartening. They sound soooooo good. I would still love to put a pair on my boat if I didnt want a 28AT so bad. You are saying you noticed nothing, except for that marvelous bark at the back of your boat?

The CMI just made the 496 sound like a 525, it has alittle better take off and midrange, but the Donzi 26 ZX is a very large 26ft boat and it is very heavy, so if you dont throw alot of horse power at it, it will not respond. I have lowered the price, I was asking 48,000 for the boat and now I am down to 42,000, the first person who gives me 40,000 takes it.

I think the Raylar kit would work well with your CMIs (550 hp?) and would also add some to your resale. If I was looking at a used boat, a Raylar 525 would be a big +, supercharger would be -, because too many people don't get the set-up right and damage the engine.
